Sunday, August 30, 2009, 8AM Memphis’ first Wolfpack Triathlon was held in 1992, and has been growing in popularity, especially for new triathletes, every year. Race director Larry “Wolfman” Townsend says this race is a particularly good first triathlon for beginners to learn how to compete, with short distances and Terrapin-run training days for practice riding and running the course before race day. Plenty of new competitors must agree, judging by last year’s stats, which show that 76 percent of participants were first-timers. |
